    PUBLIC CALL TO ACTION

YOU DID IT!

Your calls to the New Jersey Senators and your e-mails resulted in the unanimous passage of the New Jersey Senate Resolution on June 10, 2010! | Click here for the Press Release

...

The Resolution SR20 is now scheduled for a full vote on June 10, 2010 - A resolution encouraging the establishment of the NeuroEndocrineImmune (NEI) Center™ , the first research center in the state of New Jersey dedicated to understanding and treating chronic neuroendocrineimmune (NEI) illnesses is currently awaiting passage in the New Jersey State Senate.

Senate Resolution (SR) 20, sponsored by Senator Christopher "Kip" Bateman (R), Senate Deputy Conference Leader, and Senator Loretta Weinberg (D), Chair of the Senate Health Committee, cites studies that an estimated 20 million American adults and children suffer with NEIDs.

Senator Weinberg enthusiastically stated:

"It makes sense to locate the NEI Center™ in New Jersey. As the nation's medicine chest, New Jersey is home to research institutions and private businesses that can cooperate to find a cure for these debilitating diseases."

Senator Bateman enthusiastically concurred:

"I look forward to the passage of Senate Resolution 20, solidifying legislative support for the research center, and have high hopes that this will, in fact, be a great step forward toward finding answers for the sufferers of these debilitating diseases."

Next step:  The Resolution SR20 is now scheduled for a full vote on June 10, 2010.

What you can do:

  • Call your NJ Senator and ask for their vote.
  • Call and thank Senator President Stephen Sweeney for scheduling SR-20 for a full vote on the Senate Floor at 856-251-9801.
  • Call and thank Senators Loretta Weinberg and Christopher “Kip” Bateman for their co-sponsorship and their vision. Click here to read about their vision: http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs048/1098473133029/archive/1103182256196.html
  • Ask family and friends to call or e-mail their senators too!
  • Even if you are not a resident of the state of New Jersey you can still call and state how important the establishment of the Center is to our entire country and what it means for individuals and their families who live in the East Coast of the United States.
  • If you are a resident of another country, share with Senator President Stephen Sweeney as well as the co-sponsors of SR-20 the hope that soon a cure and viable treatments for individuals stricken with neuroendocrineimmune disorders will be in place.

How to do this:

  • Logo on to NJ Legislature at www.njleg.state.nj.us
  • Click on (left side of the web page): “Find Your Legislator” then you can choose and click by alphabetical list/name, municipality (town), or district.
  • Due to the time crunch it is best to call your senator. You can also send a quick e-mail on their web site and ask for their vote on Senate Resolution-20 (SR-20).

What we hope to achieve:

The NEI Center™ will address the issues of chronic illness with medical research, comprehensive patient care, patient social services, and physician and patient education in one state-of-the art facility.  New Jersey is best suited for this because of the academic and healthcare initiatives, the concentration of pharmaceutical industry expertise, and a very large and well-informed patient population who can support and participate in the creation of this Center.

Get involved! Call your senator today! Make your voice heard! Tell friends and family! Spread the word!

WRITE TODAY TO THE NEW JERSEY SENATORS CO-SPONSORING THE RESOLUTION SR-20 AND TO YOUR DISTRICT SENATOR TOO.

We ask you that you send an e-mail, make a phone call or write a letter to the senators cosponsoring the resolution: Senator Bateman and Senator Weinberg. If you live in the state of New Jersey we ask that you write a letter to your local senator asking him to join Senators Bateman and Weinberg. You can cut and paste the sample paragraph below. Please note that we use a sample quoting CFS-ME. Whether you have CFS-ME or not you can still use it as a statistical sample. The key is to make it simple for you and to the point.

Dear Senator _____
I urge you to support SR20 currently waiting passage in the New Jersey Senate, encouraging the establishment of the NeuroEndocrineImmune (NEI) Center™ , the first research center in the state of New Jersey dedicated to understanding and treating chronic neuroendocrineimmune (NEI) illnesses. I have (write here the name of the illness you have). It has been extremely difficult for my family and I to bear the ravaging side effects of enduring a neuroendocrineimmune illness such as (write the name of the illness here) and its associated disorders. The economic impact and loss of worker productivity in the United States due to CFS/ME alone, is estimated to be over $9 billion per year.(CDC) Overall, chronic illness represents 75% of all the health care costs in the U.S. Therefore I ask you to support the efforts of Senators Bateman and Weinberg and make this legislative effort a reality for thousands of New Jersey citizens, as we as millions of Americans stricken with neuroendocrineimmune disorders. Thank you for your support of SR20.

Sincerely yours,

Your name here.
